Ask any Childbirth Educator why they teach, and their answers will vary. But at the root of each answer will be relishing the opportunity to help expectant couples in an informative, supporting and caring way to expand their understanding, options, and confidence in choosing the birth that best fits their unique experience. CEA teachers have the opportunity and privilege to share in one of the most significant and challenging experiences of expectant parents in the Centre County region. CEA’s educator training program will teach you all you need to know about anatomy and physiology as related to pregnancy and childbirth, effective teaching and group dynamics, and specifics related to our local hospital. Join our community of enthusiastic, supportive educators to provide prenatal and postpartum services in Centre County, and enjoy the experience of working with expectant parents as they make the life-changing transition into parenthood.

Teaching opportunities are available in our Early Pregnancy, Prepared Childbirth, Baby Care, and Sibling Preparation classes. CEA is run by a dedicated group of volunteers committed to providing quality education to expectant parents in the Centre region. One of the most rewarding volunteer opportunities with CEA is that of a teacher’s assistant. As an assistant, you are given the opportunity to get a second look at the class, this time from the teacher’s perspective. As such, you will not only give valuable help to the class teacher, but you are also able to share some wisdom with the folks who are in the same position you were in when you were expecting your first child or welcoming a new sibling to your family. The time commitment is short (3 hours a week for a five or six week series), and you are able to choose which series work best for you.
